Festina Lente Work Experience Policy

WORK EXPERIENCE & COMMUNITY PLACEMENT POLICY AND PROCEDURE

Festina Lente welcomes requests for work experience / community placement from schools and other similar organisations.  Festina Lente recognises that having school students on work experience / community placement is beneficial to Festina Lente, its members and the students alike.  Festina Lente will endeavor to accommodate as many placements as possible. It must be recognised that in certain instances we may not always be able to do so.  Members of staff also benefit and take their share of responsibility for the students during their work experience / community placement.  The relevant Manager has overall responsibility for administering and supervising the work experience / community placement scheme.

It is the policy of Festina Lente to provide a safe and healthy work environment for all employees / volunteers / work experience students / interns and to meet our duties to all individuals who come to our organisation. The Company acknowledges its role in protecting the safety, health and welfare of all people employed in the Company and affected by the workplace. We are committed to implementing safe work systems and methods to ensure the safety, health and welfare of all.
The Company understands its legal obligations and its commitment to comply with the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act, 2005, and any other legislation such as the General Applications Regulations 1993 or as required under EU Law.
The Company recognises that its obligations are to provide the following:
• A safe place of work
• Safe systems of work
• Appropriate information and training to ensure safety
• Preparation and revision of emergency plans
• Prevention of risk to health from any activity
• Hygiene facilities as appropriate

No mobile phones are permitted in the Equestrian Centre are at any time.  We advise that all valuables be left at home.  We have a no rubbish policy so you will need to take your rubbish home at the end of the day.

Work Experience, Volunteer & Intern Equestrian Centre Clothing Requirements

Your responsibility:
Navy or black trousers or navy, cream or black jodhpurs
Navy or black polo shirt
Navy or Black Jumper or Fleece
Rain Gear
Comfortable outdoor boots or riding boots
Riding Gloves (needed for leading horses)
Provided for you (when needed):
Masks
Safety Goggles
Latex Gloves (used when mucking out, etc)
Not permitted to wear:
Shorts
Skirts – short or long
Low Cut Tops
Ripped Clothes
Jewellery
Slip-ons, Trainers, Shoes with Slippery soles, Open Toed Shoes or Sandals
Any offensive logos or pictures on clothes or shoes
Tops with a Hood (excludes coats)

Work Experience, Volunteer & Intern Gardens Clothing Requirements

Your responsibility:
Working boots but not necessarily steel capped toe boots
Rain Gear – Jacket and Trousers
Garden Wear ie trousers or shorts, t-shirts, jumpers, fleeces
Provided for you (when needed):
Masks
Safety Goggles
Gloves
Not permitted to wear:
Shorts
Skirts – short or long
Low Cut Tops
Ripped Clothes
Jewellery
Slip-ons, Trainers, Shoes with Slippery soles, Open Toed Shoes or Sandals
Any offensive logos or pictures on clothes or shoes

Appropriate behavior
Work experience students are expected to work within the policies and procedures of the Festina Lente and adhere to its ethos. As representatives of the organisation, they are responsible for presenting a positive image of the Festina Lente to the outside world.  All Health & Safety policies must be followed or termination of the placement may apply.

Representation of the Festina Lente
Work experience students must seek prior approval from the CEO before undertaking anything that might affect the organisation. This includes, but is not limited to, statements to the press, joint initiatives with other bodies, and agreements involving contractual or financial obligations.

Confidentiality
Festina Lente respects the Work experience student’s right to privacy and confidentiality. In turn, Work experience students are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of all privileged information to which they are exposed while doing work experience with the Festina Lente.

Records
A system of records is maintained on all Work experience students, including dates and times of service, duties performed, evaluation of work, etc. Work experience students records are accorded the same confidentiality as staff records.

Service at the discretion of the Festina Lente
Any Work experience service is at the discretion of Festina Lente. Festina Lente may, at any time, and for whatever reason, decide to terminate a Work experience student’s relationship with the organisation. Similarly, Work experience students may at any time, and for whatever reason, decide to terminate their relationships with the Festina Lente. Notice of such decisions should be communicated at the earliest opportunity, preferably in writing.
