Festina Lente Mission Statement
The mission of Festina Lente is to provide a range of integrated training, occupational, learning and employment opportunities to people with disabilities. These services are provided through equestrianism, horticulture and community-based activities with an emphasis on choice, personal development and progression. The services are provided through the following:

Festina Lente was established in 1988 and over the years has developed a wide range of equestrian related activities to people of all ages, from diverse backgrounds and with a variety of learning styles. Central to this is the role of the horse and its’ capacity to facilitate each person in their preferred activity or programme.

Job Title: Supervisor of Summer Equestrian Yard Helpers – Fixed Term Contract
Location: Old Connaught Avenue, Bray, Co Wicklow
Reporting to: Yard Supervisor
Responsible to: Chief Executive Officer

Main purpose: To supervise and assist as necessary the Equestrian Yard Helpers to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the Equestrian Yard.

Your principal duties and responsibilities will be:
Supervising and assisting as necessary the Equestrian Yard Summer Helpers with their yard duties including;
• Mucking out stables, cleaning Tack/equipment, Sweeping of the yard
• Feeding / preparing hay nets
• Grooming
• Leading horses / ponies to and from the fields
• Leading ponies during lessons
• Assisting children to mount and dismount
• Overall general upkeep of the yard and equestrian yard facilities

This job description is not exhaustive and other duties may be assigned from time to time in accordance with the needs of the service. This job description may be revised to take account of changing circumstances and requirements.

The person appointed to this role will ideally meet the following requirements:
• Experience of working in a busy equestrian yard (ideally)
• Knowledge of Horse welfare in terms of grooming and tacking up comfortably and safely
• Knowledge of Horse behaviour and safety around working with horses
• Knowledge of how horses learn and the use of pressure and release
• Enjoys the outdoor environment and be physically able and fit for the nature of the post

Rate of Pay: The rate of pay for this position in €10.50 per hour

Working week: Monday to Thursday

Working Hours: 9:00am – 5pm with a 60 minute unpaid lunch break at 1.00pm.

Annual Leave: Annual Leave will be calculated on the basis of time worked.

Public Holidays: Entitlement to Public Holidays will be in accordance with the Working Time Act of 1997 (pro rata).

Duration of contract: 6 week Fixed Term Contract commencing Monday the 1st of July, 2019 and ending Thursday the 8th of August, 2019.
